As a Transportation & Customs Specialist you will report to the Country Logistics Manager in the Supply Chain & Logistics department based in Sydney for a permanent contract.
The Transportation & Customs Specialist is essential to Hager’s successful expansion into the New Zealand market. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing the export processes and documentation from Australia to New Zealand, ensuring the seamless and timely movement of goods across borders while strictly adhering to customs and transport regulations. Additionally, the position holder manages daily order processing between Hager and third-party logistics providers (3PLs), ensuring flawless execution of daily deliveries.
From a transport perspective, the role provides crucial administrative support to freight operations, actively monitoring service provider performance, auditing invoices, and ensuring clear communication of delivery times to both external and internal stakeholders. The role also drives continuous improvement within the logistics department, generating reports, identifying anomalies, implementing corrective actions, and promptly addressing internal requests to optimize operations.
Your mission
- Coordinate international transport and prepare all necessary export documentation and paperwork.
- Oversee daily order processing between Hager and third-party logistics providers (3PLs), ensuring smooth operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to procedures and promptly address internal requests.
- Identify operational anomalies and drive the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure the timely delivery of products while strictly following established procedures.
- Respond to internal inquiries, including quotations, deadlines, transport insurance, and freight-related questions.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with transport constraints and regulations.
- Conduct thorough invoice audits for freight service providers.
- Generate accurate and insightful logistics reports.
- Support various logistics department projects, contributing to continuous operational improvement.
Your profile
- Preferred Bachelor degree (or higher) in Logistics, Commerce, or Business
- Proficient in SAP, with strong capability in managing logistics and supply chain processes.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and process optimization.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, ensuring efficient task management in dynamic environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Meticulous attention to detail in managing documentation, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, adept at identifying issues and implementing effective solutions in logistics operations.
