We are currently looking for our future Patent Engineer (m/f/d) based in Blieskastel (Germany) or Obernai (France) for a permanent contract.

The Patent Engineer’s main role is to define the best possible protection for the group’s innovations, and to ensure the freedom to operate of projects under development.

Within the Patents team of the Corporate Strategy and Innovation department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of patents and designs and, as such, you will be the main contact for the corresponding  R&D centers.

Your mission

• You are accountable of  the evaluation of the patentability of inventions made by the R&D teams and of the indentification of the patentable features of the innovations.
• You are in charge of the entire patent process from start to finish including all associated administrative tasks 
• You take part in the filing and follow-up of procedures with the various organizations and/or with the agents representing the group (drafting of invention briefs, claims and description)
• You train the R&D teams in the fundamentals of industrial property rights
• You advise on projects that need to include IP clauses in various contracts (partnership / assignment / license / purchase ....) and draft the necessary clauses for these contracts
• You travel regularly (monthly and on request) to the various R&D centers (a few hundred kilometers apart) in order to work with and animate communities of inventors

Your profile

• You hold a master's degree in Engineering or equivalent (mechanical, electronical or software), as well as a specialization in industrial property (patents) CEIPI or equivalent
• Your qualification before a patent office is in progress or acquired
• You can work with the following tools: Patbase, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• You are fluent in German, as well as English and/or French
