With univers N and unimes H, Hager offers a comprehensive range of solutions for type-tested power distribution systems in the low voltage range from 800 - 4000A for buildings, industry and infrastructure with distribution systems as well as switchgear and protective devices developed and produced in-house. Supplemented by active/passive arc fault protection systems for maximum personal and system safety as well as ensuring high system availability. 

 

As a Engineering Solutions Lead you will report to Area Sales Manager - Project and the psition will be based in Rydalmere, NSW for a permanent contract.

 

The Engineering Manager Project Business role is accountable for the Engineering function within the region. It will play a pivotal role in enabling technical excellence across Hager solution offers, primarily focused on the Main Distribution Systems for the Switchboard Builder sales channel, Large Electrical Contractors, OEMs, and Electrical Consultants. The positionholder will be responsible for ensuring product and solution compliance with relevant AS/NZS and IEC standards, leading the local adaptation of switchboard system architecture. This will include collaboration with head office on digital tool development (e.g., discrimination/selectivity tools, design configurators), and serving as the technical authority within the sales and estimating process for the regions Project Business division.This role will also act as the regional technical interface between engineering, sales, and offer development teams - ensuring Hager’s local market requirements are embedded into global tools, standards, and future roadmaps, providing strategi and big picture ideas and solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement.

 

What will you do?

  • Apply engineering expertise to ensure products & solutions meet both technical and commercial requirements and lead the interpretation and application of AS/NZS and IEC standards across all relevant product offerings, with a particular focus on AS/NZS 61439 & AS3000
  • Ensure all solutions adhere to compliance, safety, and performance benchmarks and deliver high-level internal training and guidance on evolving standards to both commercial and technical teams
  • Drive the development and localisation of Quadro Evo for the Australian and New Zealand markets in collaboration with Global Offer Creation and Head Office teams.
  • Advocate for local  market requirements and influences global product roadmaps to support  future-ready systems, including EV-ready boards, energy monitoring integration, enhanced selectivity, arc flash mitigation & arc fault containment
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, supply chain, and certification bodies to validate products and systems
  • Lead local contributions to Hager Electro’s digital engineering tools for discrimination, selectivity, system design and switchgear configuration and ensure these tools align with local regulatory standards and customer requirements and oversees their effective deployment across internal teams and partners by user feedback collection, testing and enhancement cycles for tools such as custom-developed discrimination selectors
  • Provide expert engineering support to the sales and estimation teams during tendering and project development stages by ensuring compliance with technical guidelines and system application limits
  • Collaborate with the Partner Projects and Marketing teams to deliver customer-centric documentation, technical training, and product launch support
  • Engages directly with key customers – including switchboard builders, consultants, OEMs - to provide engineering expertise and clarify compliance or product application matters, acting as the final in-country technical contact.

 

What about you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and postgraduate qualifications in Power Systems or related field (desirable but not essential) as well as a Project Management qualification
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the low-voltage (LV) switchboard or power distribution industry with an in depth knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3017, and relevant IEC standards
  • Hands-on experience in design, compliance testing, or certification of LV assemblies and components
  • Strong understanding of system design principles including discrimination, cascading, selectivity, short-circuit withstand
  • Proven track record of supporting or collaborating with Switchboard Builders, Consultants, OEMs, and large Electrical Contractors
  • Familiar with digital Engineering tools such as PowerCAD, SKM PowerTools, SEE Electrical, Caneco, ETAP or similar
  • Experienced in global product development or engineering collaboration and with compliance testing laboratories or participation in standards committees is advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to simplify and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and commercial stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and passion for engineering excellence
  • Leadership capabilities, Project Management proficiency and effective collaboration across functions and manages diverse stakeholder groups
