As a Health & Safety Manager & RSPP (Manufacturing Plant) you will report directly to Plant Manager in the Manufacturing department based in Arenzano (GE) for a permanent contract.
As an HSE Manager / RSPP, you are responsible for ensuring the protection of employees’ health and safety while guaranteeing full compliance with Italian HSE regulations within the manufacturing plant. You lead the Prevention and Protection System, strengthen a strong safety culture across the organization, and act as the key HSE reference point for operational functions and leadership on site.
Your Mission
- Ensure full compliance with Italian health, safety and environmental legislation (D.Lgs. 81/2008) and coordinate the Health & Safety Management System in line with corporate standards and certifications such as ISO 45001 (and ISO 14001 where applicable).
- Act as the formally appointed RSPP, advising the Employer on all prevention and protection matters and supporting interactions with authorities and inspections.
- Lead risk assessments and ensure the preparation and continuous update of key HSE documentation (DVR, DUVRI) as well as operational safety plans.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the plant through training, awareness initiatives, and close collaboration with operational teams.
- Plan and monitor preventive and corrective actions, track HSE KPIs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and regular shop-floor checks to ensure compliance with safety procedures, emergency plans, work permits, and correct use of PPE.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
- Manage contractor safety processes, permit-to-work systems, and HSE aspects related to non-routine activities.
- Oversee emergency preparedness, drills, and fire protection systems, ensuring readiness and compliance.
- Provide HSE guidance and support during technical investments, plant changes, and improvement projects.
- Prepare regular HSE reports and dashboards for plant and corporate leadership while coordinating internal or external ASPP resources.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Safety, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) or a comparable technical-scientific field with strong HSE specialization.
- Mandatory qualifications to act as RSPP according to art. 32 of D.Lgs. 81/2008 (Modules A, B, and C, including required continuing education).
- At least 5 years of HSE experience in structured industrial or manufacturing environments, ideally with direct responsibility in complex production plants.
- Previous experience as RSPP or a strong background as a senior ASPP.
- Solid knowledge of Italian HSE legislation, risk assessment methodologies, and management systems such as ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 is an advantage).
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and managing contractor safety and non-routine work (e.g., permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out).
- Good understanding of industrial processes and related risks (mechanical, electrical, chemical, ergonomic).
- Strong project management capabilities within industrial settings.
- Leadership skills with the ability to influence safety culture and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
- Analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Additional certifications such as fire safety, first aid, ATEX, working at height, confined spaces, hazardous materials handling, or ISO 45001 auditor are considered a plus.
